Support

IAIA’s Institutional Advancement and the IAIA Foundation work together to expand IAIA’s capacity to raise critically needed funds to strengthen student success, enrich academic programs, support museum exhibitions, and keep IAIA at the forefront of educational offerings.

The generosity of IAIA supporters allows us to continue this vital work and meet the needs of our students. These supporters recognize that IAIA opportunities also include them and that IAIA success stories are also their stories. Just as we value the critical roles that IAIA faculty play, we appreciate all gifts of support that create opportunities for excellence.

Your support creates life-changing opportunities for IAIA students.

When you donate to IAIA, you not only make college education a reality for IAIA’s students, but you also provide a life-changing impact for our students, their families, and their communities. Download and view the Change Lives, Shape Futures brochure to learn more about the impact of your support. For more information, please contact Institutional Advancement at (505) 424-5730 or foundation@iaia.edu.

“Giving to IAIA is about more than helping students fulfill their educational dreams. It is an investment in leadership, opportunity, and an abundance of much-needed hope for the almost 100 Tribal Nations our students represent.”

Dr. Robert Martin (Cherokee Nation)

IAIA President

Ways to Give

Please consider making a gift to IAIA. Here are just a few of the things you can support with your contribution.

Give Online

Support IAIA through a one-time or monthly gift paid via credit card, bank transfer, PayPal, or Venmo.

Give by Check

Your gift of support can be made by check, payable to the IAIA Foundation, and mailed to the IAIA Foundation, PO Box 22370, Santa Fe, NM 87502.

Transfer Stocks, Bonds, and Mutual Funds

Transferring your appreciated assets to IAIA benefits our students and allows relief from capital gains taxes. Contact foundation@iaia.edu for more information.

IRA and Donor-Advised Fund Gifts

IRA and donor-advised fund gifts are two tax-wise ways to support IAIA and make a difference.

Qualified Charitable Distribution

If you are 70½ or older, you can make a tax-free transfer of up to $100,000 per year directly from your individual retirement account (IRA) to IAIA.

Donor-Advised Fund Gifts

Donor-advised funds (DAF) can be an effective strategy for achieving your charitable goals. Donors receive a charitable income tax deduction when they create a DAF and then recommend one-time or recurring grants to nonprofit organizations, such as IAIA.

Include IAIA in Your Estate Plan

When you include IAIA in your will, trust, or other estate arrangements, your life-changing support extends well into the future, helping generations of Indigenous artists and leaders for years to come. Learn more by downloading the  IAIA Legacy Giving brochure or the Planned Giving web page.

Endow a Scholarship or Other Fund

Your substantial gift can create a special endowed fund at IAIA that will provide support to IAIA and our students for years to come. The fund can be for student scholarships, an academic area, or another program to benefit IAIA. For more information, please contact suzette.sherman@iaia.edu.

Donate Personal Property such as Real Estate or Art

IAIA is grateful for in-kind gifts such as art supplies, art, real estate, automobiles, and more. Art contributions for the museum, campus collections, or annual IAIA Benefit & Auction are subject to review and acceptance by their respective committees. For more information, please contact suzette.sherman@iaia.edu.

The Institute of American Indian Arts Foundation is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, EIN #32-0377684. Download and view the IAIA Foundation FY2022 990.
