Actors from Indian Radio Days

The Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) presents the play Indian Radio Days, written by Leanne Howe (Choctaw Nation) and the late Roxy Gordon (Choctaw descent), which will be performed on April 6–7, 2024, at 7 pm in the Black Box Theater in the Performing Arts and Fitness Center on the IAIA campus. Directed by six different students from the Performing Arts Directing class—Montana Miller (Navajo), Enoch Chapman (Pipil), Avery Hale (Mandan, Hidatsa, San Carlos Apache, and San Felipe Pueblo), Isaiah St Cyr (Ho-Chunk), Ty Tuni (Navajo and Mexican), and Woodrow Wilson (Cherokee)—this hilarious satire lampoons the misrepresentation of Indigenous folks in the mainstream media, while also giving the audience some serious, biting commentary to chew on. Presented as a bingo game, this play presents American history from an Indigenous perspective with humorous insight, a message of pan-Native dialogue and togetherness, and a takeaway that Indigenous folks are all connected.
