Wings Curators

Wings is an exhibition showcasing the artistry of IAIA staff, faculty, and students based on the mystery of winged beings through creation stories, legends, poetry, music, dance, and art.

Wings belong to the realm of wildness. There is wisdom in wildness—the universe is wild. We need wild things—we need wings. All over the world for thousands of years, Indigenous peoples have touched the mystery of winged beings through creation stories, legends, poetry, music, dance, and art. The ceremony of these art forms helps us to see the universe as sacred. Wings speaks about going back to the wild shores within us.

Curators

  • Angelica Drywater (Cochiti Pueblo)
  • Mary Elizabeth Harrison (Navajo)
  • Lorenza Marcais (Chicana)
  • Dawna Walters (Diné)

Wings Exhibition is open October 9–November 6, 2017.
