In the wake of Standing Rock and the recent closure of Indian Country Today, journalist Jason Begay (Diné) ’96 will be visiting IAIA to talk about the importance of Native American Journalism. “We need Native journalists now more than ever,” says Begay.

Begay has been a reporter for the New York Times, the Navajo Times, and the Portland Oregonian. In 2015 Begay served as the President of the Native American Journalists Association. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Montana’s School of Journalism. Visit the University of Montana’s Native News website to see the work of Begay and his students.

RSVP to Alumni and Constituent Relations Manager Chee Brossy (Diné) at cbrossy@iaia.edu or call (505) 424-5704 to find out more information. The lecture and conversation takes place in the IAIA Auditorium and it is brought to you by the IAIA Creative Writing Department and the IAIA Alumni Relations Office.
