IAIA Winter Readers Gathering
The IAIA Low Residency MFA in Creative Writing presents the Winter Readers Gathering January 5–12, 2019. Readings by noted authors will take place each night beginning at 6 pm in the Auditorium in the Library and Technology Center (LTC). All readings are free and open to the public.
Shan Goshorn Passes Away
The contemporary art world lost an important artist over the weekend to cancer and many people lost a good friend. Shan Goshorn (Eastern Band Cherokee) was an exceptional person deeply loved by many. Shan was an Eastern Band Cherokee artist, who lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Scholarship recipients, President’s List students, Dean’s List students, family, donors, fellow students, staff, and faculty attended a reception catered by Bon Appétit to recognize 307 scholarship recipients, 38 President’s List students, 116 Dean’s List students—503 scholarship awards totaling $529,841.

MoCNA Volunteer and Docent Training Program
MoCNA is seeking candidates for volunteer and docent training. The program will feature instruction in Native American art and the workings of a major museum that will enable successful participants to provide valuable services to visitors to the museum.
Vote on Higher Education Bond D
IAIA, along with other higher education schools, colleges, universities and specialty schools, is included in the New Mexico General Obligation Bond D for Higher Education (GO Bond D) request that the voters will see on the ballot in November 2018.

2017–2018 MoCNA Social Engagement Art Residents Announced
MoCNA announces its 2017–2018 first and second round of Social Engagement Arts Residents, and currently, it is funded by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. Previously, this program was funded by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI).
IAIA 2018 Student of the Year Announced
Charlie Cuny (Oglala Lakota) has been selected as IAIA’s 2018 Student of the Year (an award that is sponsored by the American Indian College Fund). Cuny, a Junior, who is majoring in Studio Arts with a concentration in painting and has maintained a high academic grade point average.
