Board of Trustees

IAIA’s Board of Trustees is the governing authority of the institution. Responsibilities include approving the annual budget, ensuring the institution meets its mission, planning for the future, and hiring the president. Members are appointed by the President of the United States.

Alumni

IAIA’s Alumni Council is made up of seven alumni elected by their peers. The Councilors serve three-year terms. They meet regularly to foster communication and engagement between the alumni and their alma mater, support IAIA’s goals and offer a collective alumni voice.

ASG

The Associated Student Government (ASG) is funded by the student government fee that all students pay each semester. The ASG was chartered to give students representation in the college community and offers a variety of services and opportunities for expression, leadership, and involvement. It represents the student in decision making and is an important link between the student, faculty, and administration.

Faculty Council

The IAIA Faculty Council, as sanctioned by The Board of Trustees and the President, recognizes the primacy of the faculty in the areas of curriculum, teaching, research, creative work, faculty rank, salary, and employment. The faculty formulates and recommends educational programs and policies of the Institute of American Indian Arts for approval. Faculty Council develops and maintains curriculum, recommends degree requirements, encourages and supports faculty creative and scholarly activities, creates an environment that facilitates teaching and learning, supports the professional development of the faculty, and develops and recommends policies pertaining to faculty status.

President’s Advisory Council

IAIA’s President’s Advisory Council exists to promote institution-wide communication about any matters of concern. Members include individuals who report to cabinet members and the chairs of faculty and staff council, and the president serves as chair.

President’s Cabinet

IAIA’s President’s Cabinet is made up of the president and the individuals who report directly to the president. The group meets regularly to share information, discuss institution-wide concerns, develop solutions, and advise the president.

Staff Council

IAIA’s Staff Council exists to partner with IAIA Faculty and Students in providing input into the decision-making process of IAIA. The council serves to ensure staff representation, recognition, and retention. It is made up of all non-student and non-faculty staff. The group meets regularly to share information, discuss institution-wide concerns, develop solutions, and advise the administration.
